About
Why does this exist?
Millions of people move abroad hoping for better careers, higher incomes, new experiences or a different life. Years later, a surprisingly difficult question remains.
Was it actually worth it?
That question is easy to ask and hard to answer honestly in public. People rarely say out loud that a move they fought for did not work, and they rarely get credit for one that quietly did.
WasMovingAbroadWorthIt.com collects anonymous answers from people who actually made the move, and shows them back as one number per route.
What this is not
Not rankings. Not government statistics. Not relocation marketing. Not advice about whether you should move.
Just hindsight, from the people who have it.
How it works
You pick where you moved from and where you moved to, answer a few broad questions about your situation, and answer the one that matters: knowing what you know now, would you make the same move again?
No account. No email. Nothing that identifies you. Answers are published only as aggregates, and only once a route has enough responses that no single person can be picked out of them. Read the methodology for what these numbers can and cannot tell you.
Who is behind it
An independent project, built because the question is interesting and nobody was collecting the answer. There is no company, no sponsor and nothing being sold on this site.
